WildAire Cellars Update

Tasting Room: 128 W Main St, Carlton, OR      (503) 851-3689           www.WildAireCellars.com
                                                              October 2011
Dear Robert

We have grapes!  So we will have crush!  Matt drove up to Washington last Monday and we processed our Syrah, Tempranillo and Roussane on Tuesday.   Maridel and the Fisters were key in helping us get started.    We now have a couple of days of maybe wet, and then another week of sunshine.  Everyone is breathing a sigh of relief and planning on harvesting next week.  The Pinot Noir should be spectacular, if the birds don't see it.  If anyone is interested in helping us next week, let me know.  Sorting grapes is fun! We have 4 more vineyards to harvest. Your efforts will be rewarded with wine.  mailto:jean@wildairecellars.com .

Our Friday Night Forum Wine Club pickup party is this Friday, October 21st, at our house.  Please RSVP, if you have not already, if you will be able to make it!  We will have some leftovers for the shop on Friday-Sunday, so if you cannot make it Friday night, stop by this weekend. We would love to catch up with you all!

Greetings!

We've always strived to make our customers happy- many of you we easily call friends, our relationship with you is important to us.
Since moving to the Tap Room our methods to provide the best tasting experience has evolved- mostly thanks to your feedback.
Overwhelmingly, you love 'Tasting Amongst the Barrels' and we do too! Until further notice Tasting Amongst the Barrels is here to stay.
When we began Tasting Amongst the Barrels we were looking for a funfilled, intimate atmosphere to pour our wines and struck gold. The Barrel Room is truely where the winemaking process is visiable all around and where wines, conversations and plenty of laughs are the focus.

Now through mid-december the Barrel Room is even more accessible. Read on to find out about our extended tasting hours.
To access the Barrel Room look for signs directing toward the side door located in the SE parking lot, near 2nd St. If you park in the main lot follow the signs to the far end of the building on 2nd Street. Access the building using the side door.

Cheers!

Chris's Update from the Vineyard

The growing season continues to be a challenge. Cluster ripening is still 2-3 weeks behind a typical year.  We anticipate harvesting the grapes in mid-October. Until then continue to think sunny thoughts for us and keep those fingers crossed for a late Indian summer.

Keep Calm and Drink Pinot

Call the 800.884.1927 to select these, something from our amazing collection of men's shirts, or a Van Duzer Vineyards coffee mug that honestly exclaims, "I'd rather be drinking Pinot."

Wine Club members, log-in to our secure server to save 10% on all merchandise purchases.

Lessons of Fall

September means veraison and bottling, and in Shooting the Breeze, the Van Duzer Vineyards blog, winemaker Jerry Murray reflects how previous vintages and walking the vineyards guides his winemaking decisions.

Jerry and Rebecca in a pre-fall assessment of the Van Duzer Vineyards crop potential
In her pre-harvest report, vineyard operations manager Rebecca Sweet covers preparations for another cool harvest by drawing from last year's lessons in leaf pulling, early fall rains and ravenous, fruit-loving birds.

October TASTE OF FRANCE kicks off

Bluegrass and BBQ draw Labor Day crowd to Van Duzer

Guests at the Van Duzer Vineyards Bluegrass and BBQ

As the sun set behind the west hill, the smell of BBQ pierced the warm September air. The rhythmic sounds of bluegrass filled the vineyard and the clank of horseshoes and laughter brought comfort and memories of days past. Friends gathered at picnic tables and hay bales to share stories, to bask in the warm glow of the night and toast their glasses of Van Duzer.

Bluegrass Players It was the perfect way to celebrate the last weekend of summer with friends, old and new. Read all about our Labor Day weekend Bluegrass and BBQ in the Shooting the Breeze blog.
