Harper Voit! You Heard it Here!

Share This:
Spring is here, and we're closing in on the first full year in our new winery. May brings us to 3 of our 6 open house days of the year. The 2012 Pinots are resting in barrel, giving us a chance to reflect on what has turned out to be one of the best vintages in memory. We're off to a great and early start to the 2013 growing season, and we welcome you to come and taste with us on these upcoming special event weekends.
The New Winery
We've settled into the new winery now and are enjoying the benefits of having our own space. Most of Drew's 2012 custom winemaking clients will be pouring their wines at the open houses and a few new exciting projects have come on board for 2013. In addition, our good friends from WildAire, Leah Jorgensen Cellars, and Eisold-Smith will be sharing their range of hand-crafted, small production wines.
2010 Last Call
We're down to about 8 cases of the 2010 Strandline Pinot Noir and about 2 cases of the 2010 Old School, so if you want some, give us a call or email and let us know. They might make it to the open houses, or not...If you're coming and want to pick some up, let us know and we can hold the last bit for you. We're down to the last 8 cases of the 2011 Pinot Blanc, too, with the 2012 still aging in barrel until July-August.
The New Releases
This month we will be releasing the 2011 Pinot Noirs. The Strandline cuvee, a blend of several vineyards, shows the bright intensity and balance of the 2011 vintage. We only made a little more than 200 cases of this. Also, the 2011 Old School Vineyard Pinot Noir will be released, which is extremely concentrated and dense, especially from this classic and cool vintage. 45 cases produced.
We're excited to announce a new release from Harper Voit in 2012, an Old Vines Riesling. We secured a small bit of the oldest Riesling vines in Yamhill County, planted at Maresh Vineyard in the Dundee Hills in 1970. Our 90 case production of this beautifully balanced Riesling are released this month.

We're located just off Laughlin Road, on Ridge Road, between Willakenzie and Colene Clemens just across the narrow valley from Beaux Freres and Patricia Green.
We will be open from 10-4 on May 18th and again on Saturday-Sunday the 23rd and 24th. Pouring with us will be our good friends and winery-mates Wildaire Cellars and Eisold Smith Wines, as well as Drew's new winemaking clients, Toluca Lane, Eminent Domaine, and Rocky Point Cellars. Tasting fee $20 to taste all of these small production wines.

Last Chance for Alexana Pinot at Your Thanksgiving Table

PREMIUM PINOT NOIRS RELEASE REMINDER

The 2010 Alexana Signature Pinot Noir and the 2010 Alexana Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir are now available in time for holiday celebrations.
The lush, juicy acidity and ripe flavors of Pinot Noir make it a natural fit with Thanksgiving dishes. With less than 300 cases produced of both the Signature and Shea Pinot Noir, these wines are extremely limited.
Order by Friday, November 9 to receive your wine by Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful holiday season!

Signature Pinot Noir

2010 Signature Pinot Noir

The 2010 Alexana Signature Pinot Noir is a stunning selection of the best barrels from the estate Revana Vineyard. Aromas of Asian spice and minerality combine with the fresh blue and black fruit, which is the hallmark of the beautiful 2010 vintage. On the palate, the Signature is forward and juicy, but maintains its elegance. The massive black fruit is balanced with a delicate earthiness and has a silky, sophisticated mouthfeel with a long lush finish. The 2010 Signature is a definite must for your cellar. 236 cases produced.

Shea Pinot Noir

2010 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir

The 2010 Alexana Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir is once again a timeless beauty. Classic Shea aromas of blueberries and earthy mushroom integrate with clove, brown sugar and Christmas spice. The silky smooth texture with fine grain tannins is a stunning platform for the black pie cherry, mocha and spice box that usually is associated with the Shea Vineyard. We highly recommend hiding this Pinot in your cellar for quite some time. 263 cases produced.

                                                              October 2011
Dear Robert

We have grapes!  So we will have crush!  Matt drove up to Washington last Monday and we processed our Syrah, Tempranillo and Roussane on Tuesday.   Maridel and the Fisters were key in helping us get started.    We now have a couple of days of maybe wet, and then another week of sunshine.  Everyone is breathing a sigh of relief and planning on harvesting next week.  The Pinot Noir should be spectacular, if the birds don't see it.  If anyone is interested in helping us next week, let me know.  Sorting grapes is fun! We have 4 more vineyards to harvest. Your efforts will be rewarded with wine.  mailto:jean@wildairecellars.com .

Our Friday Night Forum Wine Club pickup party is this Friday, October 21st, at our house.  Please RSVP, if you have not already, if you will be able to make it!  We will have some leftovers for the shop on Friday-Sunday, so if you cannot make it Friday night, stop by this weekend. We would love to catch up with you all!

Chris's Update from the Vineyard

The growing season continues to be a challenge. Cluster ripening is still 2-3 weeks behind a typical year.  We anticipate harvesting the grapes in mid-October. Until then continue to think sunny thoughts for us and keep those fingers crossed for a late Indian summer.
